Suffragette Meeting in Derby in 1907


We can only imagine how exciting and momentous April 1907 was in Derby. Not only was this the month and year that the Independent Labour Party had its National Party Conference in the then town, but it also seems that the Suffragettes capitalised on this gathering to host what is described as a 'Suffragette Demonstration'. What is surprising is the fact that not very much was made of this 'Demonstration', especially as Mrs Emmeline Pankhurst herself was speaking and Keir Hardie was among the audience!
